You know that sinking feeling when a friend comes to you with disappointment in their eyes? You would move mountains to help them, but oftentimes a road-dog friendship means opening your ears rather than your mouth.
While I held back my first instinct to bluster and tell my friend the offending party was all wrong, I learned that he recently applied for a position he had his heart set on. But the company had other plans.
He’s not the first terrific applicant to get passed over and, unfortunately, won’t be the last, but it reminded me of an article I wrote recently for USA Wire called “What to Do If You Don’t Get Promoted.”
Writing this article brought back memories of my own disappointments. While these were painful moments, they also prompted me to learn some of my most important lessons. You’ll find that all five steps to get back on track share the same underpinning: owning your attitude and effort.
This week’s Pathway Countdown feature is number five:
Own Your Attitude and Effort
If you’re just joining my countdown, welcome! I explore seven pathways that have helped me through the years and inspired me to write my new book, Uncompromising. Learn more about these seven pathways by downloading a handy one-pager PDF.
